ABOUT

Craig Stoddart professional portrait with bass guitar

Craig Stoddart is a multi-instrumentalist and session musician based in Scotland. With a Bachelor's Degree in Popular Music from Edinburgh Napier University, he is a highly versatile bassist and tenor saxophonist with a professional attitude. Craig prides himself on being easy to work with, helping artists achieve their artistic goals and visions and has a firm belief in serving the song above all else.

Studying jazz theory from a young age, Craig is a capable sight-reader and improviser who is comfortable and experienced in a plethora of musical styles. From traditional jazz to pop, hip-hop, rock and electronica, Craig is constantly seeking to immerse himself in new sounds and musical experiences in order to grow as a session musician . To this end, he has built a growing online presence centred around synth bass guitar - using and exploring effects pedals to emulate keyboard synthesisers on the bass guitar and bringing a dynamic and fresh element to his live performances as a bass player.

Craig has established himself both within the local Edinburgh scene and across wider Scotland. He is a regular performer at several prominent festivals and events across Scotland including Celtic Connections, Eden Festival, Kelburn Garden Party , Hidden Door Arts Festival and King Tut's New Year's Revolution. Craig enjoys playing music of all styles and believes in being as facilitative and accommodating as possible to help others achieve their musical goals - be it in the studio or out on the stage.
